Artist

Olga Shagina

The creative path of Olga Shagina is a consistent movement towards freedom from realistic frames and strict rules, towards the natural breathing of self-valuable painting. The artist carefully thinks out the color relationships and compositions of works, creates complex multi-layered textures, reminiscent of a palimpsest, saturated with echoes of memories: architectural images, rain streaks or fragments of manuscripts. I would like to compare her abstraction with harmonious music, in which all the nuances are verified: the strength and saturation of sound, spatial sound, timbre, accents, pauses. And even when there are no recognizable objects of reality, the painted surface magically draws into the space of the canvas, evokes vague non-verbal sensations and invites you to listen to yourself and plunge into the sea of free individual associations.

Olga Shagina

Member of the Moscow Union of Artists. Prizewinner of the exhibition-competition "GOLDEN BRUSH". The paintings are in the collection of the State Russian Museum, the State Literary Museum, corporate and private collections in Russia, the USA, and European countries.

As far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed drawing. In 2016, I clearly realized for myself that I wanted to delve into painting. It was my inner need that slept for a long time, and that's about the inner need. My short search for an art genre leads me to write abstract paintings. Art, as such, is a pure reflection of the nature and inner world of the artist. Abstraction is different, sometimes diametrically opposite in its message. You have to be responsible for what they broadcast to people who see them - or negative pictures. Life can be as colorful and beautiful as we imagine it to be. I draw inspiration from music, art, nature, passing the impressions of what I saw through my feelings. In my opinion, positive abstract painting can charge the surrounding space with positive energy, inspire creativity, travel, new achievements, and self-knowledge.
